Nein, ich habs nicht gefunden. Aber ich habe sehr gute Nachrichten auf www.bmwe30.net gefunden:-
"Los Angeles – In what is being called a milestone advance in automotive biology, a team of geneticists says it has completed decoding the entire programming code of the E30 engine management system, long regarded as impossible by most auto manufacturers, including BMW.
Scientists worldwide hailed the breakthrough as a major step in understanding the mysteries of E30 engine performance that could lead to better engineering of cars in the future, such as transplanting cup holders into center consoles. Scientists with the Engine Science Car Genotype Operation (ESCARGO) worked for nearly a week to crack the code of the E30 Engine Control Unit (ECU), also known as The Friggin’ Box. The team developed a laborious process that included drinking significant quantities of beer, rigging the service indicator board to a Sony Playstation, then drenching the oxygen sensor in Norwegian cod liver oil – a technique known as The Caradian Effect.
“It was awesome, man,” explained Dr. Duncan Rhimschott, project director.
“There was like all kind of lights blinking and spark flying and then the on-board computer just starting blinking out all kinds of codes and we just wrote it down as fast as we could. Hell, we’ve got paper and beer everywhere.”
Automotive scientists say thousands of E30s die or are crippled each year for no apparent reason. ECU codes are blamed for a rash of problems ranging from engine stalling, hesitation during acceleration, dimming OBC lights and jerky windshield wipers. The unraveling of the ECU codes could allow owners to diagnose engine problems and manipulate the codes as a way to bypass several balky E30 systems such as brake warning lights, service interval indicators and electric window buttons.
The ECU team denied rumors that one of the first applications of the findings would be to modify the engine codes to allow the use of platinum spark plugs. “This is science, people,” said Rhimschott, “not fantasy.”
